The Birmingham-based company expects to double capacity with the new machine, which it will use to attract work from the lower end of the B3 printing market.
Prestige, which moved into manufacturing from a print broker background six years ago, has specified the press with Heidelberg's Prinect Print Center.
It will use the press to print brochures, leaflets, flyers and catalogues for local customers, including agencies and bureaux, as well as end users nationwide.
Managing director Paul Massam said the new machine was a necessity as the seven-staff company could not cope with the workload on its original machines.
"We were running six days a week on the one machine but now we can do three days work on two machines," he said.
Prestige is carrying out jobs in runs up to 500,000 with a current job spanning 28,000 copies and 28pp.
"Manufacturing is much better than print factoring. I said I’d never go into manufacturing, but when I saw the control, cost benefits etc, I started printing," Massam said.
In addition to the new Heidelberg press, Prestige has also invested in a Stahlfolder Ti 52 buckle model to cope with its increased print output.
