It is another chapter in Presstek and Heidelbergs ongoing spat over plates for the Quickmaster DI (PrintWeek, 31 July).
Heidelberg launched the Saphira Caleidoplate 46 as an alternative to Pressteks PearlDry Plus plate for the Quickmaster DI earlier this year (PrintWeek, 14 March).
At the time of its launch Heidelberg said it had been assured by the unnamed manufacturer that the Caleidoplate 46 did not infringe any Presstek patents.
(*) Pressteks latest process-free plate, the Applause, is now commercially available in North America with new installations of its Dimension platesetters. It will be available in Europe later.
