Initially the machine was intended to be a backup; however, demand has been so high it has had to be used on a regular basis.
Production director Brian Watson said: "We like to double up on our finishing solutions so that we can always complete production even if something goes wrong.
"But we have seen such an increase in demand for this product that the new Dürselen went straight into action – and we are extremely happy with the results we are getting."
The investment follows a £1.3m spend in April on a five-colour Roland, a move that the company felt would lead it to breaking the £14m-turnover mark, which it is still targeting.
Potts' Dürselen system features four individually adjustable spindle paper drills and a sliding table for changing paper size between A4, A5 and A6 for 80mm hole distance without any adjustments on side stop or drill heads.
There are also spacers for standard hole patterns in A4 and A5 paper size. A linked stroke and spindle speed control allows scaled adjustment for materials and hole diameters.
