Positive Focus used last weeks MIS 2001 to show ScenicSofts UpFront production planning tool in the UK for the first time.
It chose the Pira show due to the affinity between UpFronts production planning function and many aspects of MIS.
"MIS firms all realise that there has to be more integration with production. Thats where UpFront comes in," said Positive Focus managing director Ivor Dixon.
UpFront is a database-driven application that uses production parameters such as press size, job type and stock to generate imposition templates. It can create imposition templates for the ScenicSoft imposition engine Preps to carry out the imposition.
Keeping a database of the elements affecting the planning and imposition, opens up the tools and skills of the production planner to others in the firm, it said.
