Positive Focus, which has just signed a deal to offer Highwaters Q2 Workflow Manager, opened a new technical centre on 4 September.
We sell pre-press products in a busy environment and have difficulty getting people away from their desks to train properly, said Ivor Dixon, managing director.
If they are not properly trained we tend to get more support calls. We wanted to pull people together to train in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Shepperton centre is also more central than the firms Somerset HQ.
The opening ties in with the deal to offer Q2 Workflow Manager.
The centre will offer Q2 skills and training on ScenicSoft software, from imposition to trapping. Training for colour management is also on offer.
A big manufacturer will sell a large box of kit and the workflow goes with it. Q2 is independent, takes different pieces of software and outputs to different devices.
Positive Focus aims to target a gap in the market between printers and pre-press.
More printers do their own repro and CTP. Repro houses are changing their role and we will pitch Q2 between the two.
HighWater marketing manager Sue Wood said its target was small to medium print firms.
