The Frankfurt-based company invited potential customers to visit its headquarters over a four-week period, in order to see its Label System SC-25 in action, a machine which Polar claims can produce 1.8m square-cut labels per hour.
Polar's SC-25 is designed for handling small-sized labels, down to 14mm. The labels run side-by-side through the machine, allowing double the speed of a normal machine and achieving its 1.8m target.
According to Polar's marketing director Rolf Brand, the company believes it will be perfect for tax labels, but could also be used for beverage labels.
He said: "Tax labels are getting smaller and smaller, in fact 14mm has not been possible before."
Also on show at the event, was the SuperClamp – a counter pressure die-cutter, which can handle up to 25cm (the previous maximum size was 21cm).
The SuperClamp, which is currently only available on the Polar 137XT Autotrim, puts pressure on the whole ream, ensuring there is no movement during the cutting process.
Brand said: "Anyone can cut precisely, but the key to this machine is the height. It allows the user to put the full height of the ream in rather than having to do 200 or 300 sheets at a time."
He added that if there was the demand for it, the company would look into adding the SuperClamp to other products in the Polar range.
At the event, Polar also announced that it had improved its spare parts department.
The facility is now able to send out a spare part less than 45 minutes after an order has been made for 97.5% of cases. Previously, this figure was 95%.
