Moving in on 10 January, both companies – former site-mates at their old facility in Peckham – will work closely together on trade and retail work alongside ex-neighbour Bluwave, which is now also renting office space at the new site.
The move has made for a busy start to the new year, said managing director Guy Walker, as shortly after the move, in mid-February Plus5 took delivery of its Versant 280 digital production press, equipped with specialty toners including gold, silver, white and fluorescent colours.
The press, which can reach 80ppm and a resolution of up to 2,400x2,400dpi, is now up and running, with training nearing completion.
Walker told Printweek that the new Versant, replacing an entry-level Konica Minolta, would give the firm – and its neighbours – a real step up.
“It really is quite a big reinvestment – it’s all-singing, all-dancing, can do the variable data work, and it’s fast – so we took the plunge,” Walker said.
“Now we’ve got this press, we can start marketing ourselves [for digital work].”
Plus5’s strengthened digital operation will now run alongside its Heidelberg SM 74 five-colour press and Tadberry Evedale’s own print and finishing machinery, and should help both companies bring in more work, according to Walker.
“We’re working very closely together with this new machine,” he said.
Together, Plus5 and Tadberry Evedale have eight staff working from the 700sqm Beckenham site.
