The move to a 3,400sqm site in Clerkenwell – the lower ground, ground and first floors of the newly developed Herbal House – will take place in late spring 2018, away from its current premises, the Southwark Metal Box Factory, which it has occupied for three years. Herbal House was built in the 1920s and was previously home to the Daily Mirror printing works and the London School of Printing & Arts. 

Chief executive Jody Ford, who was appointed last year, said he was delighted to return the group to its “roots north of the river”. 

Chief financial officer Alan Burns told PrintWeek: “We’ve been reviewing our options for the last 10 months or so, knowing that our lease was up on our current office in Southwark and that we’d outgrown it in terms of physical space and in terms of culture and ambition.

“They’ll have a profoundly positive effect on our culture, ways of working and the overall delight of coming to work in a cool, creative environment in a great location.” 

Housing its technology, engineering, commercial, marketing, finance and HR teams, the new premises will help inform Photobox's Ealing production facility, and the group has other offices and facilities dotted around Europe. 

“The area is synonymous with creativity and a focal point for London’s thriving tech sector,” added Burns. 

“The building itself has an illustrious history as a printing works and creative studios and it’s 200 yards down the road from where the Photobox business was originally founded, so it really is a perfect fit for us.” 

Last year, the web-to-print giant reported a 34% growth in sales, with significant growth in international sales driven by acquisitions.
