Chinese wide-format printer and cutter manufacturer Liyu has revealed new partnerships with two major UK wide-format kit dealers, Bromley-headquartered Perfect Colours and Atech in Welwyn Garden City.

Only revealed publicly at the end of November, the deals were signed in early September, making Atech and Perfect Colours the only suppliers of Liyu kit to the UK market outside of Liyu’s UK HQ near Ormskirk.

“In this very cautious industry, the fact that we’ve managed to bring a relatively unheard-of brand into the UK and make a huge impact feels very good,” Eddie Tucker, managing director of Liyu UK told Printweek.

“Atech and Perfect Colours are big players in the UK, and they needed to feel some sense of security and support for the equipment they are selling.

“The sense of achievement can’t be measured, but we feel like we’ve created our success by having a large service customer base already. We’ve built a good reputation on service and trust over the last 15 years with our service business, so it’s helped in a big way.”

Both Atech and Perfect Colours have been dubbed ‘premium resellers’.

“Premium resellers to us are companies who have shown incredible customer care and service to the industry,” Tucker explained.

“Atech and Perfect Colours are like the ‘granddaddies’ of the large-format industry, with a proven track record and solid customer commitment. They enjoy a close relationship already with each other, and we feel like a new member of their family.”

Liyu’s entire range of wide-format kit, including flatbed, hybrid, and textile printers alongside digital flatbed cutters, is available to order from all three companies, with Perfect Colours exclusively showing Liyu’s Xline range of hybrid, solent, inkjet and cutter machines.

“The Liyu range has become a solid competitor to the established brands in its area,” said Jason Burroughs, managing director of Perfect Colours.

“There is no doubt that these printers and cutters provide fantastic quality, speed, and reliability at a hugely competitive price. Their products fit well into our overall portfolio, giving our customers even more options to grow their business.”

Liyu has 51 installs across the UK, with three more planned for January 2025.

“[The three] are big names that everybody will know, but we can’t mention just yet,” Tucker said.

“They will be a massive step for us, and show our commitment and growth within the industry – we are now a recognised big brand name.”
