Overmatter: Fellow fundraisers

Oh, we do like to be beside the seaside, especially at this time of year. So it’s great to see two seaside printers embarking upon good works in support of their favourite charities.

Southend-on-Sea’s Solopress and Gemini Digital in Shoreham-by-Sea have separately, but pretty much simultaneously, come up with wizard ways to help their chosen charities.

Solopress has turned to social media with a campaign based on people uploading a pic of their favourite memory along with the hashtag #alittlememory. For each upload the firm is donating £1 to Little Havens Care, a charity that helps youngsters with life-limiting conditions.

It’s also sent out some special personalised print packs to selected ‘Twitterati’ to kick off the campaign.

Meanwhile, from August, Gemini Digital will donate £1 for every job it completes to four local charities that have been chosen from customer suggestions. The charities are The Starr Trust, Sussex Beacon, Guildcare and Wildlife Rescue.

Staff from Gemini are also training for the Starr Trust Challenge on 13 September – a sponsored event featuring archery, climbing and running.

Good to see printcos doing their bit for CSR.
