In the three years since it was established as the digital arm of Gemini Print Southern, part of the Gemini Print group, Gemini Digital has grown to £1.3m sales a year and now employs 15 people.
“A pound from each job doesn’t seem like a lot but it does build up over time. It’s a way to get some coverage for the charities and for us,” said director Lynn Brazier.
Gemini Digital will start collecting from 1 August and at the end of each quarter the money collected will be donated to one of four south coast charities: The Starr Trust, which helps young people achieve their goals; Sussex Beacon, which offers specialist care and support for people affected by HIV; community charity Guildcare and Wildlife Rescue.
The four charities were chosen by asking 200 customers to put forward their suggestions.
The company prints a variety of products, from business cards to banners, and expects to raise around £1,500 to £2,000 per charity per year through the initiative.
Staff are also undertaking the Starr Trust Challenge on 13 September – a sponsored sports event featuring archery, climbing and running.
Seperately, Brazier said that Gemini Digital is also planning a circa £90,000 investment within the next three months.
The company is set to invest in a laminator and a “clever” integrated Mimaki wide-format printer/cutter, although Brazier said the team was “still debating which one to go for”.
The company currently runs Kodak Nexpress SX3300 and NX2100 machines and a HD black and white Kodak Digimaster, an Epson large format printer, plus finishing equipment, at its Shoreham-by-Sea site.
“We’ve been successfully trading for three years last month and we have a 43% growth margin, that’s another reason why we want to give something back.
Gemini Print, which comprises Gemini Print Southern, Gemini Brighton, Gemini West, Gemini Digital and Gemini London has a turnover of £15m and has 200 staff.
