The Nottingham firm, which makes cutting and creasing dies for the packaging industry, is using the money for PR and advertising and to hone cashflow models and employment contracts.
Managing director Joe Saunders (pictured) wanted advice on all aspects of his business, including how to patent a triangular panel system of corrugated-board walls.
"We are experts at what we do, but often find ourselves too close to things and worry we may miss the bigger picture," he said.
"We hope to save at least 20,000 a year by improving business efficiencies, which is not massive.
But this is a 13-staff firm with a 360,000 turnover and the saving will make a big difference."
He is using MCCR & Associates, a business adviser, the fees of which are part covered by the grant of around 2,000 from the Greater Nottingham Partnership.
The group channels money from the East Midlands Development Agency into local businesses to stimulate regeneration.
