Oc secures ISO 14001 for UK and Ireland sites

Oc has taken "another positive step towards sustainable business" after gaining the ISO 14001 environmental standard for its UK and Ireland operations.

The company has received the certification for both localities, including four Océ Business Services customer operations situated at customers’ sites.

According to Nik Thomson, Océ UK group safety, health, environment and quality officer, the manufacturer completed the certification process in four months.

"This was primarily due to Océ UK's advanced level of environmental practices and strong participation from all areas of the business – sales, service and operational support," said Thomson.

Bron Curley, Océ UK managing director, said ISO 14001 would complement the company's existing initiatives, including Océ Carbon Positive Plus + programme and its Green Services.

The Green Services initiative was launched earlier this year and is aimed at minimising the environmental impact of its business by focusing on energy consumption.

The manufacturer's Carbon Positive Plus+ programme has committed Océ to offset 200% of the CO2 generated from the operation of its Océ VarioPrint 6000 systems, offsetting more than 5069 tonnes CO2 so far.
