What did the job entail?
An exterior vinyl wrap encircling BlackBerry’s Slough headquarters to mark the release of its flagship smartphone. Complementary interior graphics, designed by Pope Wainwright and printed by Oasis Graphic Co, were also installed throughout the building.
How was it produced?
The exterior was wrapped in ContraVision One Way Vision Vinyl printed on a UV Vutek GS3250 printer. The interior installations and window overlays were UV printed on vinyl overlays using a Mimaki JV-33. All were cut using a Zund G3 cutting table.
Oasis’ installers worked around the clock for four days on two scissor-lifts to apply the graphics to the building exterior, and then embarked on a Cinderella-esque race on 30 January, following the phone’s official unveiling at 5pm until midnight, to mount two 5m x 9m Z10 images inside the building.
What challenges were overcome?
Pope Wainwright stipulated that the design must not be broken by the building’s metal framework, so Oasis performed a site survey prior to installation so that any every panel, gap and piece of framework was measured and considered in the blueprint.
What was the feedback?
Pope Wainwright designer Francesca Haywood said: "After the planning and design phase, the Oasis installers did an outstanding job inside and out, working in synchrony to create make our vision a reality. Client satisfaction matters as much to Oasis as it does it to us, and the final results were very well received."
