The Loanhead-based firm took delivery of the Rialto 900 and a Versant 3100 at the start of the year. The Rialto 900 is the company's first roll-fed machine and is expected to run at twice the speed of its existing Xerox Color 8250. It will be run with a FreeFlow Core DFE.
The Versant 3100 was also brought onsite in order to further boost the firm's targeted marketing capabilities. PM Solutions fulfils mailing work for other printers, but the new machines will enable it to bring more of its printing in-house.
“Quality on these new machines is exceptional,” said managing director Ron Davidson. “Our team has taken to the new technology like a duck to water, fulfilling our transactional work and ad hoc mailing.
“More and more printers have been asking us to fulfil the entire mailing job for them – we do a lot of book and brochure work and we needed to fill that part of the business properly, making this another step up for us.
“It is now getting very difficult to tell the difference between litho quality and what these machines produce, only the smell is missing. Digital print is becoming increasingly superior.”
Davidson described his firm’s investment as “significant”, with the new machines being the latest in a near-£1m investment programme with Xerox.
PM Solutions uses a mono press from Konica Minolta for some of its jobs. It has two BB700 mailing systems from Buhrs, as well as a BB600 that is set to be replaced by a third BB700.
The £5m-turnover firm’s 23-strong team moved to a new 1,860sqm base from 460sqm premises in 2015, with Davidson describing the new premises as “very modern and designed for mailing.”
