The Derby-based company, which only started up in May this year, is pairing up the DigiCoater with an HP Indigo 5500 – allowing it to print on a range of papers that are not usually compatible with digital print.
Papers the company will now be able to offer include textured, ingrained and metallic stocks that aren't usually suitable for digital printing.
Andrew Edmondson, managing director at Purely Digital, said: "The Indigo can print on any substrate, but the papers need pre-treating to give a key. The DigiCoater allows us to do this."
The company is hoping the ability to do short-run digital printing on these specialist stocks will help it target companies looking for a specialist look to their jobs – including photographers and high impact POS work.
Edmondson added: "We're looking for more of a push on designers who want lower volume, but high-impact material.
Purely Digital currently has four employees, but Edmondson said the company has "great plans for expansion in the future and to employ more staff".
As well as the DigiCoater, Purely Digital's other Morgana finishing products include a DigiFold creaser/folder, an EBA 551LT guillotine, a Foldnak 8 bookletmaker and trimmer and a Citoborma 111 drill.
