The SpeedSetter 400 In-Line Platemaking System from RIPit made its European debut at Northprint, targeting the franchise and small printer market.

"The system is extraordinarily simple for a printer to use", said DTP Associates sales director, Bob Norman, UK distributors of the system.

The SpeedSetter 400 has a three-bath inline processor, and is able to run with both Agfa and Mitsubishi polyester plates.

"The unique feature with this system is it comes complete and includes all the features you would normally pay extra for," said RIPit Europe managing director, Per Hallingberg.

RIPit claims that the SpeedSetter 400 is the least expensive internal drum product in the market to date.

The 400mm In-Line platemaking system provides high resolution, ready-to-print Polyester plates and digital colour proofs, using RIPits Adobe PostScript 3 interpreter.

The package comes complete with RIP platform, and software, (PostScript level 3), densitometer, trapping and imposition capabilities and Epson proofer and scanner driver, similar to the RIPit Platemaker 338X2.

The new wider format SpeedSetter 400 also produces both landscape and portrait plates up to 4,000dpi quality.

All hardware is included in the package, including built-in press calibration, providing as Hallingberg says, "an all-in-one turnkey solution."

The SpeedSetter 400 is available now at around 27,500
RIPit Corporation in the US has been in the CTP business for between four to five years, with a sales office also in Sweden, and now claims to be the largest supplier of polyester CTP systems in the USA to franchise printers.

"Basically we offer the most value for money," said Hallingberg.
