Roll Systems has unveiled a roll-feed system that gives 18 hours of continuous paper feeding for Heidelbergs Digimaster 9110 sheetfed printer.
The DocuSheeter DI is also compatible with the IBM Infoprint 2000 and Canon imageRunner 110 printers, which are OEMs of the Heidelberg engine.
The DI is based on the DocuSheeter line for cut-sheet printers and can hold over 60,000 sheets per roll. The unit sits on the printers input side and comes equipped with an unwinder and precision cutter.
Heidelberg has designed an interface kit that allows its Digimaster 9110 and OEM cousins to interface with the DocuSheeter DI.
Roll Systems vice president Jules Fried said the product was available now, but its introduction was dependent on manufacturers designing and incorporating interfaces into their products. "So its more accurate to say that it will be available at the beginning of next year," he added.
The DocuSheeter can run all paper sizes and weights handled by digital printers, and users can switch between sheet sizes without changing rolls. There are also plans to make the unit available with an optional hole-punch.
Fried added: "It offers significant saving in terms of labour and time, but also if a company were producing an odd-sized product. It increases throughput from end to end."
Heidelberg president of Digital Solution centre Wolfgang Pfizenmaier said that incorporating the DocuSheeter was an integral part of the companys digital strategy.
