Myvouchercodes bucks online trend to produce printed booklet

Discount voucher website Myvouchercodes has bucked the trend towards online migration with the launch of its first printed voucher book in time for Christmas.

The previously online-only company will send out a trial voucher booklet to 1m households in London and the South East on 23 November.

According to managing director Mark Pearson, the book is a trial run, based on requests from consumers and retailers wanting it to run printed offers as well as web-based codes and vouchers.

He said: "Printing out vouchers at home can be a pain and a lot of people said it would be helpful to have printed vouchers rather than having to print their own.

"This is our first step back into traditional coupons. It can hit old and new customers, the book is a great reminder for those that maybe haven't been on our website for a while and it is something that can be passed around family and friends.

"A lot of companies have great websites, but they need to spend money to get people online by advertising in a coupon. We think that it could be something of a discount bible this Christmas."

The books will be printed by Mitcham-based printer Aldridge Print Group (APG) and sent out via a Royal Mail door drop.

Myvouchercodes intends to monitor use of the coupon books in order to establish how best to use them in future.

It will also be running further trials next year. In January, it will be sending out a travel voucher book, also printed by APG and it has plans to send out more locally targeted voucher books, which will include independent and area specific companies as well as multi-store nationwide businesses.

Companies that are already set to appear in the discount book include Thomson Holidays, Virgin Experience Days, Red Letter Days, EA Games store, Argos, Thorntons, Focus DIY and House of Fraser.

The website currently has 9m unique users every month, it expects to hit 11m over Christmas.
