MY Healthcare Cartons reopens Portsmouth plant

MY Holdings chief executive John Monks carried out one of his last formal duties before his retirement by re-opening the Portsmouth Healthcare division plant.

The MY Healthcare Cartons plant had an investment of 2m over the summer with additional equipment including a third six-colour Komori B2 press. The division has also installed a Bobst 76E die-cutter as it bids to provide more capacity for the healthcare sector.

"It is a huge investment and since MY Healthcare Cartons was created in 1991, we have continued to replace equipment on a regular basis," said MY Healthcare Cartons managing director Nigel Crookes. "We redeveloped the facilities to improve the environment for our staff."

"The Portsmouth factory is exceptionally close to my heart as I have been fortunate enough to be associated with many people who worked here for over three decades," added Monks.

At the reopening ceremony, customers and suppliers saw its Heidelberg Diana Pro 114, the UK's first, run at speeds of 150,000 cartons per hour. Monks finalised the deal for the Diana Pro 114 at Drupa this year.
