According to filings at The Gazette, Kevin Mapstone and Kenneth Robert Craig, both of Begbies Traynor (Central), were appointed as joint liquidators of Multiprint (Scotland) Limited last Monday (3 March).
Mapstone and Ken Pattullo of Begbies Traynor told Printweek in a statement today (11 March) that the business, founded in 1972, ceased trading at its leased premises on 28 February 2025.
When Printweek called the company’s phone number, an answerphone message said: “The company has closed its doors and are no longer taking orders. The closure is due to the founders retiring after 53 years in business and poor trading results as the demand for print continues to decline.”
The message also directed enquiries towards Pandaprint, based in Rosyth around 15 miles away, who “have agreed to look after Multiprint’s customers”.
The message concluded: “The directors and staff thank you for entrusting your work to us over the years, it is very much appreciated and we wish you well in the future.”
In their statement, Mapstone and Pattullo added: “The directors made efforts to sell the business as a going concern but were unsuccessful. However, the customer list was successfully sold pre-liquidation to a local Fife-based printer, Panda Print Limited.”
They added it was “very likely” that there would be funds remaining for unsecured creditors.
Multiprint offered services including litho, digital, and banner and poster printing as well as design services, wedding stationery, promotional products, and branded clothing. Owned by George and Margaret Warner, its turnover was £450,000.
The company’s assets are being auctioned by Sweeney Kincaid. Closing on 21 March, kit featured in the auction includes a Sakurai Oliver five-colour SRA2 press, a four-colour Heidelberg GTO 52, a Konica Minolta bizhub C1060 digital press, a Mimaki JV33-130 wide-format printer and a range of finishing kit plus general workshop equipment and office furniture.
Note: Multiprint (Scotland) is entirely unconnected to Multiprint Solutions in Stockport, Multiprint UK in Walsall, and Multiprint Lithographics in Beckenham.
