The father-and-son firm in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk is run by Michael and Rhidian Maltby, who paid £9,500 for the Roland, which will replace a Mutoh ValueJet 1614.
Son Rhidian Maltby said: “The old machine was giving us problems, such as pipe clogging, while the Roland was simple to use, fast and and easy to maintain.”
According to the manufacturer, the RF-640 64in wide-format digital printer delivers prints at speeds of up to 48.5sqm/hr.
Michael Maltby started Multi Signs in 1980 and the print company makes a turnover of around £350,000 from clients including hauliers and small businesses.
The company, which also runs a Gerber Edge label printer and a Gerber P2C plotter, is toying with buying a RollsRoller laminator in the near future.
“We are buying new equipment to make us more efficient rather than branch into new areas of work. But our place is pretty compact and right now we need more space than more equipment,” said Rhidian Maltby.
