Press cleaning system manufacturer Baldwin Technology Company has announced a $2m (£1.3m) deal with KBA to supply its equipment as part of the Express's yet-to-be named new print facility.
KBA announced in May that it had signed a deal to supply its presses to the newspaper publisher, a deal which the Express confirmed in its own publication a few weeks later.
According to Baldwin, in the first phase of installation, it will supply "a comprehensive process automation package including cleaning system technology, spray dampening and cooling systems".
Installation of the equipment, which will be used on four KBA Commander CT press lines, is planned to take place in various stages during 2011.
Karl Puehringer, president and chief executive of Baldwin said: "It is reassuring to have publishers and printers making investments in new technology which will enable them to meet the demands of productivity, automation, environment and low production costs as well as the high quality of newspapers in the future. It is a very positive signal regarding the future of print media."
