MNA group, which publishes the Express & Star and Shropshire Star among other titles, began producing titles in January using QuarkXPress 8, with The Kidderminster Chronicle the first off the press.
Editorial systems based on QuarkXPress 8 and supplied by Press Computer Systems will be rolled-out across all twenty weekly titles in the group by the end of May. The group also plans to have its dailies follow suit later in the year.
Adrian Faber, editorial director of MNA, said: "We have always been quick to embrace new technology and there has been so much positive opinion in the market surrounding QuarkXPress 8 that we were keen to upgrade and maintain QuarkXPress as a key part of our editorial workflow."
Matthew Wallis, senior vice president of sales in Europe and Africa at Quark, added: "Quark’s dynamic publishing technology can bring significant productivity benefits to the newspaper sector by streamlining the workflow and automating business processes to gain greater efficiency."
