Jarrold Printing managing director William Mills is leaving the firm at the end of the year after nine years in charge.
Mills told staff at the Norwich web offset printer of his departure last week and has been informing customers over the past few days.
He will not be directly replaced but Jarrolds group chief executive Robert Mills will take on his role.
Mills stressed it was an amicable parting of ways. He said he felt it was time to move on to fresh pastures. "I have been running businesses for the past 25 years and my wife said would you please stop being very busy and slow down," he added.
Mills hasnt yet decided what his next move will be but it is likely that he will remain in the industry.
Jarrolds is redeveloping part of its 17-acre print site to create three new office blocks.
The printing operations occupy around 40% of the site, and a new 1m pre-press area has been created as a result of the development, said Mills..
