MCG expands under new owners

Hull-based packaging repro house MCG Graphics has changed hands and set up a new site as part of a major expansion plan.

The company has been bought for an undisclosed sum by US pre-press multinational Southern Graphic Systems (SGS), which has operations in the US, Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong and now the UK.

MCG sales director Steve Buxton said that the change in ownership, which completed on 31 October, was "fantastic news".

"SGS is very big in gravure and we've built a good reputation in flexo, so there are really good synergies," he said.

He added that the new contract wins with unnamed clients had led the company to open a new repro office in Nottingham that will employ 15 staff. The firm already has 105 staff across locations in London, Hull and Cumbria.
