The UK distributor for RMGT B1 and MGI presses, as well as GUK and Mabeg kit, operates from a number of units in Westerham and Banstead in Surrey, but will be moving to a new single unit in South Godstone, with room for expansion on site.
M Partners managing director Murray Lock said: “We’ve been working in particular with RMGT to expand its European service offerings and to do that we have to increase our stockholding abilities. We’ve moved to a more modern operation, so there could be additional space.
“What we recognise now is that, even though we are taking 3,000sqm with the new premises, we have the flexibility to grow and take on additional units.”
Lock emphasised that location was important when searching for the new premises, as the nature of M Partners’ European offering means it needs easy access to mainland Europe.
It also needs to house a number of used Mitsubishi machines.
He said the £4m-turnover outfit looked at a number of different properties over a long period of time but that price was a factor.
“We were looking to buy and every time we went to do a deal, someone would put the price up. It was unfortunate. The downside of living in Surrey is that we are paying premium prices. But it suits the management and distribution so it’s worth the extra cost,” he added.
M Partners sub-division MPL has been responsible for parts, service and technical management of RMGT presses across Europe since winning the contract in 2014.
“Relocating can be annoying for everybody, but the benefits we’ve got here – more space, more modern offices and an upgrade of all systems – mean we have a real opportunity to improve,” added Lock.
M Partners employs mainly sub-contractors, along with six permanent staff in its office.
