The graphic showing a park scene was printed on a Mimaki CJV300 solvent printer onto Mactac WW300 vinyl paper with the corresponding laminate. It is 4.5x2.5m. Two other 2x8.5m and 4x2m wall hangings, with type instead of images were also printed.
Installation began in the hospital’s brand new Hazlehurst Unit, part of the clinical research department, on 7 April, with the official unveiling on 10 April. Lustalux worked in partnership with local construction firm D&G Builders, which provides construction services for the health and education sectors.
Lustalux managing director Richard Lancaster said: “All work was carried out effectively with confidence and precision to meet hospital deadlines and the finished product is sure to have a lasting impression on all patients and visitors entering the hospital.”
Robin Langton, a member of Lustalux’s signage sales team who was directly involved with the project, said of the challenges faced: “Obviously the usual sort of timeframe challenge was present. It was an official handover so we had to get it done before then.
"The other thing was the original image turned out to no longer be available. It had been discontinued when we went to buy it so we had to source another image of an orientation to fit the area.”
Lustalux was founded in 1991 by Lancaster to serve three main areas, the installation of window film, the installation of graphics to any substrate and the supply and installation of signage of all types. It recently completed a feature wall at the Royal Lytham & Saint Anne’s Golf Course. It has previously worked with Red Bull, Asda, BMW and BAE Systems.
