The decision was made because the group wanted to focus on other areas of the business, including digital print and database services.
The administrator is HW Fisher, which was unavailable for comment as PrintWeek went to press.
"It was at the point where we needed to put in an investment of up to 1m," explained Lloyd James commercial director Jo Lloyd. "We decided that the money would be better spent elsewhere in the business. The litho market is full to capacity."
Lloyd added that, since the group had installed a NexPress 2100 at its Sidcup site last year, there had been a "70% swing to using digital colour".
The Woolwich site traded as a separate company and had a workforce of 13. It was previously Hamlet Press, until it became part of the Lloyd James Group four years ago.
The division's kit included a Heidelberg Speedmaster 72, two Heidelberg GTO presses and stitching equipment.

Lloyd James Direct Mail Services has placed its Woolwich-based litho print division into administration.
