Litho Supplies cuts 10 staff and turns focus to online sales

Printing equipment Litho Supplies has made 10 staff redundant as the company focuses more attention on its online consumables sales.

According to managing director Eddie Williams, the company's online consumable sales are now up to £7m and could account for 40% of the company's business in the next couple of years.

Williams said: "I am tightening the belt, of course I am, it is the right thing to do. Our online consumable business is growing hugely and our telemarketing is also growing month-on-month.

"Smaller printers don't want to be visited by a salesman every week, we had to review how many salesman we needed in the field.

"We are left with just under 60. We are now covering the market in a slightly different way, the model has been altered to work around the customers."

Litho Supplies employs 300 staff and had a turnover of around £42m in 2007. This is expected to be closer to £50m in 2008.
