What was the project?
Klick Fitness opened nine gym clubs as part of its launch, with NSI producing the signage for each site. As well as the main signs, the company produced signage for the inside of the building, as well as 10m- to 14m-wide large-format printed graphics on the walls inside some of the clubs. Managing director Nick Kehoe said: "Because the sites are unmanned signage is very important."
How was it produced?
The bulk of the work was printed on NSI’s Mimaki J5 wide-format press, however Kehoe added: "Our maximum width is 1.6m, but the main signs have to be printed in one run and they are up to 4m, so that work was outsourced."
What challenges were overcome?
Although the printing was not unusual, the biggest problem that NSI had to face was the short lead times. Kehoe said: "We had to do nine sites in about four weeks; so we did five sites one week, had a week off then did the other four sites. We were on site for the full week each time. With lead times as short as that, there was a 12-to 24-hour turnaround from agreeing the artwork to installation on some of the jobs."
What was the feedback?
Jason Worthy, head of Central Operations for Klick Fitness, said: "We are more than happy with the results – the clubs look great. Having been recommended NSI, we were confident they would deliver high-quality signs and go the extra mile to complete the job by the deadline."
