Killer app: Signs score at sport summit

McKenzie Clark created the branding and signage for the International Leaders Sport Summit, an event that welcomes 1,700 guests from 45 different sports and 55 countries, held at Chelsea Football Club.

What did the job entail?

McKenzie Clark produced the branding for the venue in three weeks, beginning installation two days prior to the opening.

The £50,000 project included 15 20m entrance signs, all stage conference sets, directions, awards dinner signage and production of six exhibition stands including McKenzie Clark’s own promotional area.

How was it produced?
Around 1,000sqm of signage was printed on Mactac JT5424RUV non-PVC vinyl using Durst Lightfast UV-curable pigment ink on roll-to-roll Durst Rho 3200 and flatbed 800 machines.

What challenges were overcome?
Last-minute changes to the exhibitor list meant that McKenzie Clark had to work to very tight deadlines to alter sets. One stage set needed to be turned around in six hours.

McKenzie Clark commercial director Ben Moss said: "We see it as a live event, not a straight signage job and we are used to quick turnarounds."

What was the feedback?
James Worrell, chief executive of show owner Leaders, said: "The end-product was a comprehensive, premium graphic display which created a ‘wow’ factor outside, a contemporary, dynamic feel inside as well as a practical solution to explaining what was on at what time and in what place.  The project management from start to finish was first class and the speed with which they adapted to challenges along the way resulted in a very happy client who, in turn, had very happy clients!"
