WHAT? An A5 reproduction of a painting by marine artist Robert J Dennis entitled Harbour Gold Two, printed on a Xerox iGen3.
WHO? Advantage Digital Print (ADP) is the first UK xerographic printer to meet the Fine Art Trade Guild print standards.
WHERE? The Dorset-based firm went for the standard following reproduction requests from the local art community. ADP can now print high-quality digital reproductions of paintings for artists around the country.
HOW? ADP uses high-end scanners to capture digital images of artwork. These are then colour corrected and matched to the original paintings before being printed on the iGen3. To be accredited, ADP’s printing techniques and substrates had to go through rigorous testing. The firm submitted work to undergo a series of trials carried out by a United Kingdom Accreditation Service-approved laboratory for standards that included light fastness, and media pH and weight.
WOW! The Fine Art Trade Guild print standard aims to preserve confidence in the art industry. As an approved supplier, ADP can now include the Guild logo on all prints created on tested media. Using the iGen3, ADP can reproduce artists’ original work affordably while maintaining the levels of quality and colour needed in the fine arts market.
