Paperman has been developed by JSA Consultants, an independent application software provider based in Northampton with 10 years experience in the print and paper industry.
JSA Consultants John Stevens said unlike other systems, Paperman has been designed specifically for publishers to allow them to manage all the paper used in printing their publications.
Instead of having to buy a software package, the publisher would instead pay an annual fee for each user of Paperman.
The publishers trading partners, such as printers, paper suppliers and paper management service companies, can all have shared but controlled and secure access to the same Paperman database together with the publishers subsidiaries.
Among those who have conducted successful trials of Paperman is paper management provider Axios Management.
Axios consultant Joyce Huie said: I have every confidence that Paperman, together with companies such as Axios, will give publishers greater control of their paper costs and the independence to source direct from the manufacturing mill groups.
All the user needs is a PC and an internet connection, and once online, publishers can provide their printers with online access to their database if required.
The next phase of development for Paperman will be to provide the facilities to manage publishers print contracts and forecast print costs.
