The centrepiece of the campaign was a huge 250sqm hoarding on the side of the Holiday Inn in Lime Street in the city centre, printed by Blowup Media.
The hoarding was printed in four parts on solid PVC on an EFI Vutek machine.
It features a giant image of the John Smith's Smithy the Horse, with the tagline, 'It's the John Smith's Grand National – so why the long face?', and was attached to the building via a wire frame support system and bungee ties.
Installation of the poster involved four rope-access specialists, who will also oversee the removal of the hoarding two weeks after it was put up.
The hoarding is supported by more than 150 outdoor sites in and around the city, as well as trackside and in-bar advertising at the event in Aintree, which took place on 10 April.
