Former Arjo Wiggins chairman Ken Minton has joined Inveresk as executive chairman and is undertaking a review to determine how best to turn around the companys fortunes.
Minton has effectively replaced retiring non-executive chairman William Goodall and managing director Stefan Kay.
Inveresk finance director Gerard Cassels said: "At this stage Mr Minton is conducting a limited review to see what is best for the company. We expect to be making an announcement in two to three weeks."
Cassels added that one area being considered for development was Inveresks speciality papers.
"At Arjo he had a lot experience of speciality papers and he understands the nature of the business. Morale at the company has been extremely good since we made the announcement were pleased that someone of his calibre has joined us," said Cassels.
But he added that Klippan Paper chairman Jan Bernander had not been consulted about Mintons appointment.
"Jan Bernander isnt on the Inveresk board, so you wouldnt expect him to be involved in any appointment to its board."
Bernander, who has a 22% holding in Inveresk, had promised "tremendous trouble" if he wasnt involved in the appointment (PrintWeek, 20 April).
Minton played a key role in the restructuring of Arjo Wiggins, where he was chairman until August 2000.
During his reign at Arjo, which was acquired by Worms et Cie for 2.6bn in May last year, its share price rose 48%.
