Indo German Conference stresses the importance of consumables

The Indo-German conference on Printing Materials was held on 4-5 March, a Hotel Novatel in Mumbai.Key presentations were made by industry speakers.

This included: K Balaji, managing director, The Hindu; Kuruvilla Abraham, TechNova; Othmar Mueller, Robatech; Dr Arved Huebler, director at Chemnitz University; Kiran Prayagi of pmIndia among others.

Both the two days of the conference ended with a panel discussion chaired by Ramu Ramanathan, editor of PrintWeek India. Aspi Forbes of Jak Printers and Pankaj Shah who is chairman of the R&D centre for Western India Corrugated Box Manufacturer’s Association. Shah highlighted the work that WICMA has created.

This a laboratory with testing facilities, publishing technical booklets, conducting meetings with kraft manufacturers, and finally the formulation of CoDex for costing.

Aspi showcased samples which provided an insight into the creation of print jobs. Plus he underscored the importance of paper engineering.

On day two, Murtaza Attari and Dr Rajendrakumar Anayath concluded the session with their presentations.
