Impress3 widens digital outlook with six-colour HP Indigo 3050

Impress3 has installed a new six-colour HP Indigo 3050 and is aiming to broaden its digital offering to its greetings and game card customers.

The digital press replaces a Xerox iGen3, which was inherited following an MBO in April 2005, said sales manager Martin Dockray.

"We did look at other manufacturers, including Xerox and NexPress, but we decided on HP because of its front-end software," said Dockray. "It is much quicker and the print quality is a bit better."
The company has also installed image personalisation tool DirecType. The press is being utilised mainly by direct mail customers.

"We don't want to limit digital and we are looking at new clients as well as current customers," said impress3 managing director Jo Williams.

Alongside DM, Lancashire-based impress3 covers the greeting cards, game cards and commercial print sectors. Williams says print runs on the HP Indigo 3050 have ranged from 50 to 22,000.

HP UK marketing manager for digital publishing solutions Paul Randall said: "This shows digital isn't just about variable data or short runs."
