Basingstoke-based Impact Litho has printed the double cover for IPC Medias latest issue of Essentials magazine.
Impact, part of Wyndeham Press, printed both covers on a Heidelberg Web8 in five colours. The main cover was coated with a UV varnish, while the inside cover was coated in a non-adhesive aqueous varnish.
It is not unusual for us to print double covers around a promotion, said Impact manufacturing director Paul Banks.
The magazine features Celebrity Big Brother star and Brookside actress Claire Sweeney on its cover with her regular brown hair. A second dummy cover shows another photo of her, with dyed red hair.
Essentials teamed up with Clairol Herbal Essences, which is using the cover to promote its latest Infinitely Intense Reds range. The firm has also used a lenticular magazine cover as a promotion (PrintWeek, 4 May).
Impact Litho, which prints magazine and catalogues, is an all-Heidelberg house. The firms new 3m six-colour 12pp PrintStream 100L web is currently being installed.
