Httprint has launched a Colour Management Module in co-operation with GretagMacbeth and is in discussions with a press manufacturer, file transfer providers and pre-flighting firms to create a total digital workflow for its e-commerce service.
The module covers remote monitor calibration and remote proofing among other services. Its cost to customers will depend on their requirements.
The firm has selected two beta sites, one UK and one continental. Marketing director Tim Smith (pictured) said the service had been driven by its European division.
He hopes to announce the deal with the press manufacturer in the next couple of weeks, and his only clue to the identity was that it would give the partner a total digital workflow.
The announcement of httprints file transfer partner has been delayed because it was in talks with Vio before it said it would close in the summer.
Httprint has also recruited Jim Reid for the newly created role of commercial director.
The former Polestar commercial director had spent only seven months occupying the same role at ICM Resource.
He had joined the communications management firm last October after 17 years with Polestar, where he had risen to commercial director.
Reid is reunited with several former Polestar colleagues at httprint europe, including Smith, managing director Barry Hibbert and group sales director Rob North.
We have all watched the ups and downs of e-commerce over the last 12 months, said Reid, and of the propositions remaining, httprints has to be considered as one of the market leaders.
His role will involve liasing with both corporate buyers and print suppliers. Ill be looking at medium- to long-term relationships, he added.
The opportunity at httprint was bigger and better than his role at ICM, he said.

Hibbert said Reids appointment reflects the development of a blue-chip customer base for our print management and e-commerce solutions.
