Howard Hunt (City) is countering a squeeze on 8pp work in the direct mail sector by installing its second 16pp Mitsubishi Diamond web later this year.
"10- and 12-colour sheetfeds are taking up some of the market and the 16pp web is so much quicker we run ours reel-to-reel so its as fast as you can go," said chairman Nod Pigott.
The 3.2m press will replace one, possibly two, of the Dartford direct mail printers 8pp presses.
Pigott repeated previous claims that Mitsubishi presses were the most reliable: "I dont know what Mitsubishis service is like because I dont need it."
The firm installed a second Creo CTP system last weekend to cope with increased demand.
