Hotprints launches social networking photo service

A new on-demand print service that enables users to print photobooks for free directly from social networking sites has been launched by Hotprints.

The web-to-print specialist is offering a free ad-supported 16pp photobook each month to users of Facebook and Bebo, plus the ability to order further books, or books without advertising, at a cost of £1.99.

Customers can use Hotprints' drag-and-drop platform to select the photos, before the order is printed on the company's HP Indigo presses and delivered in 3-5 business days.

Mohammad Ahmadabadi, co-founder and chief executive of Cambridge-based Hotprints, said that the concept enables users to bring "the online phenomenon into the physical form".

He added: "With the continued growth of photo sharing and the decrease in consumer budgets, we wanted to give Facebook and Bebo users the ability to share their memories and experiences with friends and family at no cost to them."

He added that the quality of the Indigos enabled the company to "match the print quality of the market leaders".
