Helvetica celebrates 50th birthday

Helvetica, one of the corporate worlds most widely used fonts, is celebrating its 50th birthday this year with a major exhibition at New Yorks Museum of Modern Art.

The font, which has found favour with brands including Gap, Orange, Hoover, Lufthansa, Tupperware and Zanussi, was designed in 1957 by Max Miedinger and Eduard Hoffman for the Swiss-based Haas Type Foundry.
