The Ipswich-based B3 specialist has already been improving its facilities with a six-figure investment on a BQ470jdf perfect binder from GAE several months ago, followed up in April with a new MB38 Pitstop folder and creaser.
Local firm Langley Lamination, which Healeys had previously used for its laminating, announced it was due to close in the coming weeks, leaving the door open for an in-house move at Healeys.
Managing director Philip Dodd said: "While they were still running, we would never have looked at lamination. They are a small family company, a great little firm and we would have supported them.
"But when they told us they were closing we thought, rather than turn to a different supplier, we could investigate the viability of bringing lamination in-house. The figures add up."
The move will also prove a boon for one former Langley employee whom Healeys has brought in as its laminator operative. Dodd said that the new employee would start next week.
Healeys are now in the process of deciding what equipment to purchase. Dodd added: "We are looking at some kit at the moment. Hopefully a decision will be made in the next few weeks."
