Managing director Gary Kenning has stepped down, to be replaced by Paul Hackett, while Chris Hawthorne moves into the role of executive chairman, having been chairman of the company for the past four decades.
Hackett is a former sales and marketing director, who has managed a period of sustained sales growth, despite difficult trading conditions. He has been with the company for 14 years.
Kenning is relocating to Wales.
Hawthorne said: "In his six years at Hawthornes, Gary has significantly strengthened the business and built a strong management team, and we all wish him continued success in the future."
Hackett added: "I have enjoyed working closely with Gary during his time at Hawthornes and, as a result of the inclusive management style, I look forward to a seamless transition.
"In my new role, I will be looking to enhance and expand the market led approach that has proved so successful in the past and to ensure that the company continues to grow through a unified approach to exceeding customer expectations.
"One of my initial aims will be to develop a clear and shared strategic vision for the future."
