The firm started its operations with screen printing in 1993 and then pre-press followed suit.
In 2006, the firm’s founder and chief administrator Girish K Joshi entered into the digital arena with Grafik Artz and its first production machine, a KM 250 in North Karnataka.
Besides the KM digital presses, the range of machines that are stocked at the firm’s shelves include: DC 4lp lazer printer from Xerox, 2000 Dainippon screen imagesetter; DC 12 from Xerox.
The company prints brochures, prospectus, posters and short-run books for corporate, educational institutes among others.
Joshi said: "Digital is gaining momentum. I opted for a second Konica Minolta press because the machine is affordable with lower cost of copy and good quality print, almost near to offset. The machine is equipped with a Creo server, which gives good colour management and workflow." He added: "The machine is also capable of printing banner sized jobs, which comes in handy."
Grafik’s print runs are around 20,000 colour copies and 3,000 mono prints per month. The firm has seven people, besides having two more facilities, one in Bengaluru and one in Goa.
Joshi has plans of expanding Grafik’s Goa operation. "I would like to add another Konica Minolta but this time the new C8000," he said.
