Five of the six double-width 4 x 1 Uniliner S presses have been installed - and one more is being installed at its unit in Bengaluru.
Deccan Chronicle Holdings installed its first 4x1 Goss Uniliner ‘S' press in Chennai in April 2005. The company, based in Hyderabad invested in 10 more new Goss presses to keep up with growing demand for colour advertising and high sales of its newspaper titles in South India. This comprises six Uniliners and five Community presses.
Venkattram Reddy, chairman of Deccan Chronicle Holdings explains, "Deccan Chronicle's fast growing circulation and the increased demand for full-colour advertising in India had prompted this significant investment."
Cyril D'souza of SLKCG, said: "Indian newspapers are trying to cope with competition in advertising, make money out of initiatives, coping with rising costs and thriving in a difficult investment environment."
For this purpose, the company has a team of 16 engineers, who include mechanical engineers and printing technocrats that assist in Goss installations.
D'souza states: "In addition to India, the team also caters to Asian countries and has installed brand-new machines in Brunei, Vietnam and Sri Lanka."
