Goss Graphic Systems is to axe a quarter of staff at its Illinois headquarters in a bid to cut costs.
Goss said the move would position it "to remain cost competitive in the uncertain economic environment of the North American market".
David Stamp, European director of marketing for Goss, said the cuts would have "absolutely no effect" on operations in the UK and Europe.
Goss employs around 450 people at Preston, Lancashire. It also has facilities in France and Japan, as well as sales offices in Japan, Australia and Germany.
Last week Goss Holdings, Goss Graphic Systems parent company, said that Thomas Cochill would succeed James Sheehan as chairman.
Cochill has worked in the printing industry for almost 20 years and has been a member of the Goss board since November 1999.
