The Llandysul, south-west Wales-based printer has moved away from perfecting with the machine, which replaces a Speedmaster SM 102, and instead opted for a four-unit model with in-line coating.
Jonathan Lewis, managing director of Gomer Press said the new model should give the company a 33% lift in productivity levels.
He added: "Our last press was a perfector but because the majority of our work is colour we decided to go for a straight press and have the 18,000sph, rather than 15,000sph running speed.
The new press will be used to produce a range of English and Welsh language books, as well as dual-language brochures and leaflets.
The company, which is claimed to be Wales' largest independent publisher, handles contracts across the UK and publishes more than 120 new titles each year.
