It is its third RMGT litho press. The deal was first discussed approximately a month ago, with the UK’s RMGT distributor M-Partners (MPL).
Glossop Cartons' Jacky Sidebottom-Every said: “It is something that we were thinking about when we acquired Contact Print & Packaging in November. They had some kit that we weren’t particularly enamoured with so we knew we were looking at perhaps replacing it going forward, and Mitsubishi approached us with what they were going to be having on stand.
“It seemed like a good idea so we formulated a plan and purchased a machine.”
The press can handle stocks form 0.04mm to 1mm. it has a chamber coater and fully-automatic plate change. The installation will also include RMGT’s wall screen monitor.
Sidebottom-Every said: “I think end speed is not everything, it’s the set-up, it’s the makeready, and the makeready from one job to the other is going to be so quick, and that’s why we’ve bought it.”
The press will work in tandem with Glossop’s current five-colour RMGT press.
Following the Contact Print & Packaging acquisition Glossop's annual turnover is now at approximately £10m and it employs 94 staff.
It became the world's first Highcon Beam beta site in May.
